Social Services
The Social Services department is responsible for the administration of many programs in the areas of Child and Adult Protection, Children’s and Adult Mental Health, Family Child Care and Foster Care Licensing, Services for persons with Developmental Disabilities/Related Conditions, Senior Services, and Chemical Dependency.
Financial Support
The Income Maintenance department administers public assistance. Financial workers determine eligibility for Food Support, Cash Assistance, Health Care, Long Term Care, and Child Care Assistance.
Applications can be completed online at MNBenefits for SNAP, Child Care Assistance, Cash Assistance, and Emergency Assistance.

Child Support
Child Support Enforcement staff establish and enforce orders for child support, initiate income withholding for support payments, periodically review existing orders, and help to establish paternity.
COVID-19 Emergency Rental Assistance
If you have experienced hardship due to the pandemic and need assistance to pay your rent or utility bills, you may be eligible for COVID-19 Emergency Rental Assistance.

Crisis Text Line
The Minnesota Department of Human Services Crisis Text Line is offering text-based suicide prevention across Minnesota. People who text MN to 741741 will be connected with a counselor who will help defuse the crisis and connect the texter to local resources.
The Crisis Text Line is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
