District 3

Ron Staples

Commissioner Ron Staples is Stevens County District 3 County Commissioner. He serves the constituents in the Cities of Chokio and Hancock, as well as the Townships of Synnes, Horton, Baker, Stevens, and Moore. Staples has been elected to two terms for Stevens County. He started in 2009, and is currently in his second term.

Commissioner Staples is a lifelong resident of Stevens County. Staples is a graduate of Alexandria Technical College. He works in the community and has raised his family here. He is self-employed as a famer and started farming operations in 1977. In addition to farming, he also spent time working as the manager of the Lee Community Center from 1997 to 2015.

Commissioner Staples is married to Juanita and they have 5 children. Josh (Alisa), Zach (Janine), Danielle (Bryce), Jordan (Courtney), and Taylor.

Staples has actively been involved in many volunteer activities in the community. He is a member of the Stevens County Fair Board, Farm Bureau Member, Morris Eagles Member, and Knights of Columbus.

In his spare time, he enjoys hockey, and spending time with family that includes eight grandchildren.

As a commissioner, Staples wants to hear from the constituents on issues that affect them. Staples serves on a variety of committees representing local government interests. He currently serves on both internal and external committees which include: Personnel, Facilities, Ditches, Audit, Extension, Bois De Sioux Advisory, Chippewa Joint Powers Board, Rainbow Rider, West Central MN Transportation Advisory Committee.
